What Will My Kids Learn?
Over the course of three days, we will observe, wonder, and create together. We will slow down, take inspiration from the nature that surrounds us, and gain insights of the culture from the stories of this island.

Children will be learning about Galot, Jeju traditional clothing dyed with unripe persimmons with Mrs. Yang Soonja, a master dye artist and fashion designer.

From oak trees to ancient ferns, Jeju Forests are vibrant with biodiversity and natural beauty. In this immersive experience, children will have the opportunity to slow down and take notice of the patterns and details in the natural world. Then, the teams will be challenged to create a Forest Map collaboratively.

Children will explore the fascinating world of marine life through engaging discussions with Dr. Ron, a Canadian Marine Biologist specializing in the study of mollusks. From the unique adaptations of mollusks to their ecological roles in marine ecosystems, children will venture to a nearby beach alongside Dr. Ron, where they will have the opportunity to discover and identify shells, along with other marine creatures and document them with photography!

Children will be creating their very own nature-inspired characters and crafting imaginative narratives around them by brainstorming, storyboarding and bringing their characters to life through their writings.

In this Forest Trail Adventure, children will have the opportunity to become field scientists with the guidance of Dr. Yena and Ms. Jaeha. We will venture into the Jeju Gotjawal, unique forest ecosystems with dense vegetation, including trees such as evergreen oaks, camellias, and cedars, as well as various ferns and mosses.
Gotjawal forests are ecologically significant in Jeju, as they serve as habitats for diverse flora and fauna. The children will learn about *how scientists see and document nature* and will have the opportunity to observe the natural surroundings carefully. With their field journals, Dr. Yena and Ms Jaeha will ask the children to share and interpret their findings, making connections between their observations and learnings!

Children will be recording an episode with Pilco Educator and Arirang Radio Host, Mr. Mark. The discussions will range from sharing personal stories to expressing their unique perspectives, allowing the children to develop their communication skills and confidence in articulating their thoughts.

Armed with a camera in hand, children will capture the beautiful sights of Jeju Island and their favourite memories before printing them out onto their explorer notebooks.

“The mere fact that Sophie Clare, as a neurodivergent child, gifted with ADHD and Dyslexia, showed interest in writing on the first day of the programme truly surprised me and touched my heart. It offered compelling insight into alternative, more effective learning methods when creativity was incorporated for her.
The facilitators were professional, respectful, and had an intuitive connection with the children. Although I wasn't present, this was noticed when Sophie Clare discussed how the day went and observed through her interactions with the facilitators during drop-off and pick-up. The way she interacted with them clearly reflected the level of trust and comfort she felt with them.
Despite the drop-off requirement, the whole experience significantly transformed both of us and further strengthened our already close mother-daughter bond. It also unlocked another level of independence and autonomy for her, and the act of letting go for me. I am also pretty pleased with the fact that I was able to work productively with a peace of mind and ease while she was engaged in the camp. I even managed to do some sightseeing on my own during free moments when I wasn't working.”

The facilitators were always on hand to update parents at pick up time.
Trent truly was sad when it ended, which only goes to show how much fun he had making new memories and friends, and absorbing the world beyond Singapore.”

Gladys Soh (aka Miss G),
Co-founder of Gosh! Kids / Photographer / Illustrator
Miss G is the co-founder and head mentor of Gosh! Kids. She has a vast experience working in the creative children’s environment in Singapore, Thailand and Japan. Her heart is to see children empowered so that they can be a positive influence to those around them. Previously a photographer, illustrator and creative director, Miss G’s attention and focus is now upon the children of the world. Creativity, fun and children—that’s what she’s all about!
Mathieu Beth Tan (aka Teacher Mat), Co-founder of Gosh! Kids / Photographer / Writer
Teacher Mat began his career as a photographer in the areas of branding and conceptual photography. His work was featured on the global stage with Apple and other prolific brands. Now a father of one, teacher Mat is on a mission to elevate children to a point where they can be seen and heard. He also writes for his online publication around the themes of creativity, strategy, business, parenting, education and life.
Angela Lau, Director / Workshop Leader at Pilco Studio
B.A. University of Toronto / M.A. New York University Ms. Lau has over a decade experience as an educator internationally spanning from Toronto, Hong Kong to Jeju. From teaching in international schools to designing games for creative learning and working with displaced families, Ms. Lau is passionate about creating learning experiences that spark creativity, wonder and joy.
Mark Wilson Choi, Arirang Radio Host / Workshop Leader at Pilco Studio
B.F.A. Locke Haven University, United States Mr. Choi is a seasoned educator and camp counsellor with a passion for outdoor learning. Growing up in Pennsylvania, Mr. Choi was an Eagle Scout and had a deep interest in wildlife and nature. Before coming to Jeju, Mr.Cho was an educator at 세종초등학교, and had extensive experience in radio and media production (KBS and TBS eFM).
Mr.Min, Writer / Workshop Leader at Pilco Studio
Gongmin is a writer based in Seoul. He made his literary debut in Korea by publishing the short story “Nose” in Consonants and Vowels (계간 자음과 모음). In addition to his literary pursuits, he has translated games and non-fiction books, including Why Vegan by Peter Singer.
Having spent his formative years in Malaysia, Singapore, and Egypt, he later pursued higher education at New York University and University of Oxford with focus on sociology and education policy. His ability to bridge cultures and languages is evident in both his literary and translated works.
Guest Educator: Dr. Ron Noseworthy, Marine Biologist
Dr. Ron came from Newfoundland, Canada, from a small town by the sea. When he was a child, Mr.Ron would go to the beach with his father and pick up shells, which they then paint with bright colors. He began collecting shells since he was 17 years old, and has spent many years studying the shells of Canada before coming to Korea. Mr. Ron has given his shell collections to the Newfoundland Museum, and over 6000 specimens from Korea to the Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea. He has written many articles in marine biology magazines, and a book, about Korean shells. Dr. Ron also works with many scientist around the world.
Guest Educator: Yang Soonja, Master Dye Artist
Mrs. Yang Soonja is a master dye artist who has been working with textiles for over 50 years. She spent her early years training in New York, but later returned to Korea to pursue the traditional craft of natural dyeing using Jeju persimmons. Mrs. Yang’s expertise in this field has gained her recognition both nationally and internationally for her work.
Mrs. Yang is experienced in doing textile dyeing workshops with students across all age-groups.
Guest Educators: Jaeha Ahn & Dr. Yena Kim
Ms.Ahn is interested in telling stories of animals and aims to shed light on the diverse, beautiful, and awe-inspiring world of animals. Her journey in wildlife conservation began after graduating from the Animal Behavior and Ecology lab, where her focus was on studying the intricate calling songs of crickets. Having worked for the Biodiversity Foundation and the National Geographic Society, Ms.Ahn is now focused on educating and bringing awareness of environmental conservation for people of all ages.
Dr.Kim received her PhD in comparative psychology at the Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University, Japan. Her research interest includes emotion, prosociality, cooperation, and its evolution and underlying psychological mechanisms in great apes. She continued her work on great ape emotion communication as a postdoc at Leiden University in the Netherlands until 2022. Discovering a passion for communicating science, she decided to team up with Ms.Jaeha to open a science café called "You In One Field Station" in Jeju.

Kids Go requires extensive months-in-advance planning and coordination with a large number of families, and with our partners in Jeju Island. Our cancellation policy entitles you to get a 100% refund within 24 hours of making payment, only if the payment is made before 19th April 2024. To ensure the smooth process and flow of our programme, we will not be able to issue any after this date. Rest assured, if you’ve already made payment and are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, reach out to us and we can discuss alternative arrangements for you and your child :)

Of course! Delicious Korean lunches will be served on all three days, as well as a buffet of snacks and beverages to keep the energy levels high. If your child has any dietary restrictions or allergies, do let us know in the enrollment form and we will do our best to accommodate their needs.

If you or your child test positive for COVID-19 before your scheduled flight, please contact us promptly, and we will explore ways to assist you. If you feel unwell and receive a positive test result during the trip, or are feeling unwell, we kindly ask for your cooperation in isolating yourself immediately and refraining from further activities until a negative test result is obtained. Rest assured, we are committed to offering maximum assistance during this ordeal.

The physical aspects of the programme will include nature trails and hiking. It’s beginner-friendly and isn’t physically-demanding. We will ensure that frequent breaks are incorporated into our schedule. However, do let us know if you foresee your child experiencing problems. We will do our best to tailor the experience to their comfort levels.

This is a day camp, commencing promptly at 9:00 am and concluding at 4:00 pm. Parents are responsible for organising transportation to and from Pilco Studio.

English will be the main language of communication throughout the programme.

As with all our workshops in Singapore, we believe this programme provides a rare opportunity for children to explore independence without constant parental presence. The majority of the camp is designed to be for the children, and we’ve allocated some time for parents and children to come together at certain times. All our programme leaders are experienced in handling large groups of children. Safety measures will be put in place to ensure that the children are taken care of. If you have any concerns, do let us know.
