Global Preschool Exchange: FAQs

1. About The Programme

1.1 What Is The Global Preschool Exchange?

The Global Preschool Exchange gives young children the opportunity to experience everyday preschool life in another country. For 1–4 weeks, your child joins a local preschool, learns alongside children from a different culture and experiences a new language, routines and way of life — not as a tourist, but as part of the school community. Gosh! Kids takes care of the preschool matching and application process, while your family gets to experience living in a different part of the world together.

1.2 What Age Is The Programme Suitable For?

The programme is designed for children aged 2–6 years old. Age requirements may differ slightly between destinations and partner preschools. We will recommend suitable options based on your child's age at the time of travel.

1.3 Which Countries Can We Choose From?

Our Global Preschool Exchange is available across selected destinations in Asia, with each offering a different cultural, language and learning experience. Currently, Singapore is available as a destination, with Taiwan coming soon. Available destinations and preschools may change throughout the year depending on school calendars and availability.

1.4 How Long Can My Child Attend The Preschool?

Families can choose to join the programme for 1–4 weeks, depending on the preschool and destination. We believe even a short period of immersion can give children a meaningful glimpse into another way of living and learning. For families who want a deeper experience, a longer stay gives children more time to settle into their routines, form friendships and become familiar with their new environment.

1.5 Does My Child Need To Be Currently Attending Preschool?

Not necessarily. However, individual preschools may have different requirements. When you apply, let us know about your child's current schooling experience and we will take this into consideration when recommending a preschool.

2. Choosing Your Preschool

2.1 Can I Choose Which Preschool My Child Attends?

Rather than simply giving you a list of schools to choose from, Gosh! Kids curates suitable preschool options based on your family's preferences and needs. This may include your child's age, language ability, preferred destination, travel dates and the type of experience you are looking for. Final placement is subject to availability and approval by the preschool.

2.2 Is Preschool Placement Guaranteed?

No. As your child will be joining an operating local preschool, spaces are dependent on the school's existing enrolment and capacity during your requested dates. We recommend applying early, especially if you are travelling during popular holiday periods.

2.3 Can Siblings Participate Together?

Yes, provided both children meet the age requirements and suitable placements are available. Depending on their ages, siblings may be placed in different classes within the same preschool.

3. Language & The Preschool Experience

3.1 Does My Child Need To Speak The Local Language?

No. In fact, experiencing another language is part of what makes the exchange so special. Your child will be joining a real local preschool environment, so lessons, conversations and everyday routines may primarily take place in the local language. Children will get to experience what it's like to communicate, play and form connections even when they don't understand every word.

3.2 Will There Be An English-Speaking Teacher?

This depends on the preschool and destination. Some partner preschools may have English-speaking educators, while others operate primarily in their local language. We will let you know what to expect before confirming your placement.

3.3 What Will My Child Do At Preschool?

Your child joins the everyday rhythm of the preschool rather than following a separate programme created for visiting children. Depending on the school, this could include classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, creative activities, music, movement and other parts of the school's normal routine. That's an important part of the exchange — children aren't simply visiting a school. They get a little taste of what childhood feels like somewhere else in the world.

3.4 Will My Child Be In A Special Class For International Children?

No. Children are integrated into an existing preschool class alongside local children. The experience is intended to give them an authentic glimpse into everyday preschool life in that country.

3.5 Can Parents Stay In The Classroom With Their Child?

This will depend on the individual preschool's policy. Most preschool exchanges are intended for the child to participate independently once they have been handed over to the teachers. Any settling-in arrangements will be communicated to you before the programme begins.

3.6 What If My Child Has Difficulty Settling In?

It's completely normal for some children to need more time than others, especially when entering a new school, country and language environment. We encourage parents to prepare their children for the experience beforehand, and our team will brief your family on what to expect. The preschool teachers will also support your child within their usual classroom practices. If there are any significant concerns during the programme, the school and Gosh! Kids will communicate with you.

4. Application & Confirmation

4.1 How Does The Application Process Work?

The process is simple:

1. Choose Your Destination & Preferred Dates
Tell us where you'd like to go, when you'd like to travel and a little about your child and family.

2. Submit Your Application
Complete the application form with the required information about your child and your family's preferences.

3. Preschool Matching & Application
Gosh! Kids will curate a suitable preschool based on your preferences and coordinate the application with our local partners.

4. Wait For Approval
The preschool will review your application. Your placement is only confirmed once your child has been accepted by the preschool.

5. Make Payment
Once your placement has been approved, you will receive your programme confirmation and payment details. Payment can be made via bank transfer or credit card.

6. Book Your Flights
Once your preschool placement is officially confirmed, you can go ahead and make your travel arrangements.

7. Attend Your Pre-Trip Briefing
Before your trip, we'll walk you through what to expect, important preschool information and anything your family needs to prepare.

8. Pack Your Bags!
You're all set. It's time to experience preschool life somewhere new.

4.2 How Early Should We Apply?

We recommend applying as early as possible, particularly if you are travelling during school holidays or other popular travel periods. Preschool placements are subject to availability and approval, so applying early gives us more flexibility when finding a suitable match for your family.

4.3 What Documents Will We Need?

Documentation requirements vary between countries and preschools. You may be asked to provide documents such as your child's passport details, health information, emergency contacts and other school-specific forms. Your child must hold a valid passport for international travel. We will let you know exactly what is required during the application process.

4.4 Should I Book My Flights Before Applying?

We recommend that you do not purchase your flights until your preschool placement has been officially approved and confirmed. As placements depend on preschool availability, your preferred dates cannot be guaranteed at the point of application.

5. Fees & What's Included

5.1 What Is Included In The Programme Fee?

Your programme fee covers the services outlined in your selected Global Preschool Exchange package. Exact inclusions may vary depending on the destination and preschool. A full breakdown will be provided before you confirm your booking.

5.2 What Isn't Included?

Unless otherwise stated in your selected programme, families are responsible for their own international and domestic flights, travel insurance, local transportation, meals outside of those provided by the preschool, personal expenses, and visa or entry-related costs where applicable. Any destination or preschool-specific costs will be communicated before confirmation.

5.3 Is Accommodation Included?

Accommodation arrangements may differ between destinations and programme packages. Where accommodation is not included, families are free to choose accommodation that best suits their needs. We may also provide recommendations based on the location of your preschool.

5.4 When Do I Make Payment?

Payment is made after your preschool placement has been approved. Your placement is only secured once the required programme payment has been received by Gosh! Kids. Payment can be made via bank transfer or credit card. Full payment instructions and deadlines will be provided together with your programme confirmation.

6. Travel & Life Overseas

6.1 Do Parents Need To Travel With Their Child?

Yes. The Global Preschool Exchange is designed as an overseas family experience. While your child attends preschool during the day, a parent or guardian must travel with them and remain responsible for the child outside preschool hours.

6.2 What Do Parents Do While Their Child Is At Preschool?

That's entirely up to you. You might explore the neighbourhood, work remotely, spend time with your partner, enjoy a very rare quiet coffee — or simply experience what everyday life feels like in another city. Part of the beauty of staying for several weeks is that your family has time to experience a destination beyond the usual holiday itinerary. As part of the Global Preschool Exchange package, we will also provide you with a curated list of things to do in the city you're in.

6.3 Can We Travel Before Or After The Programme?

Absolutely. You're welcome to extend your trip before or after the preschool exchange and turn it into a longer family adventure. Just make sure your child is available for the confirmed preschool dates.

7. Health & Safety

7.1 Does My Child Need Travel Insurance?

Yes. We strongly recommend that all participating families obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering the full duration of their trip. Depending on the destination or preschool, proof of insurance may also be required.

7.2 What If My Child Has Allergies Or Medical Needs?

Please declare any allergies, medical conditions, dietary requirements or additional needs during your application. We will communicate this information to the preschool and determine whether the school is able to safely accommodate your child's needs before confirming the placement.

7.3 What Happens If My Child Falls Sick?

Children who are unwell may be required to stay home in accordance with the preschool's health policies. Specific illness and attendance guidelines vary by preschool and will be shared with families where applicable.

8. Changes & Cancellations

8.1 Can I Change My Dates After My Placement Is Confirmed?

Date changes are subject to preschool availability and may incur administrative or programme fees. Please contact Gosh! Kids as early as possible if your travel plans change so we can explore the available options with you.

8.2 What Happens If I Need To Cancel?

Cancellation and refund terms will be outlined before payment and confirmation of your programme. As preschool placements involve coordination with overseas schools and local partners, cancellation fees may apply depending on how close the cancellation is to your programme start date. Please refer to your booking terms for the cancellation policy applicable to your programme.
